 HILLHURST

Hillhurst Bed and Breakfast is a turn of the century oil mansion situated on a picturesque six acre lot in historic Titusville, Pennsylvania.
Completed in 1908, Hillhurst was its original name and built by E.O.  Emerson, financier, during the original oil boom for his eldest son and wife as a wedding gift.
The new Mrs. Emerson was a southern girl from the state of Georgia and Hillhurst is a replica of her childhood home.  E.O. Emerson built homes for each of his three sons and the other two mansions are located on North Perry Street as well.
The home boasts spacious living accommodations and many original pieces still remain.  The fireplaces in all of the rooms were designed by the same architect that designed the fireplaces of Mount Vernon.  The Butler's Pantry and baking room have original cabinetry.  The top floor (Now the Penthouse Suite) originally served as the ball room with a floor length swivel window that guests could pass through to the semi-circular balcony.
The house was eventually sold to the Chic family and subsequently deeded to the Presbyterian Homes of Erie.  It was then converted to an assisted living facility which provided a home for the elderly for over 60 years.
In 2008, the mansion was bought by the current owners and after extensive renovations, the doors opened within 4 months as Hillhurst Bed and Breakfast.
